“Having such an amazing space to work from has transformed my business and my work life balance, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

We caught up with Tracy recently to see how thngs were going with her business.
Was the business a new venture?
Yes, I used to work at a Therapy Clinic but when I decided to launch my own business and become self-employed I knew I wanted a garden room to base it from, our garden is so peaceful, so it’s the perfect place to have a boutique treatment room.
What made you decide on a garden room, a space at home to run your business from?
Having a garden room means I can still work from home, but my clients have separate space to come to dedicated especially to their care. It also means that I can lock up and leave it behind for the day and head in to relax in my home.
Did you buy the room to start your business or was the business already established before you got your garden room?
Cosy Garden Rooms helped me to design the space to ensure it was big enough and practical enough for doing treatments in, even down to where to place the plug sockets, overhead lights and orientation in the garden. They were super patient while I decided on the finishing touches – who knew windows and doors could come in so many different combinations!
Has the business grown?
It’ll be 4 years in September since the garden room was built, and I’ve been working full time from it for 3 years. I’ve established a great base of regular clients all from the local area, and all of them love The Retreat as a special place to come to for their treatments. I now love my commute to work more than ever and enjoy many tea breaks outside in the sunshine with my dog Fergie who can now come to work with me – he likes to think he’s chief supervisor and quality controller!
What do you like about the room?
The thing I like most about my room is the underfloor heating. I work barefoot, so it’s nice to have cosy toes – especially in winter. In summer I also love having the patio door wide open to let the breeze blow in. Oh and I also love my dimmable lights for setting the right ambience in the evening when clients come for their twilight appointments.
How do you feel in the space? How do your clients feel?
I feel safe and cosy in the garden room, it’s a proper little escape from everyday life. My clients feel completely relaxed and love how peaceful it is. They also love being able to hear the rain on the roof – which they’ve had plenty of chance to experience so far this year!
You've had the room over 3 years now, is it ok? Still in great condition?
The garden room is still in great condition and anything that I’ve needed to have tweaked has been sorted out straight away, thanks to the brilliant aftersales service.
