Mark and Beverley Ray wanted two bespoke garden rooms at their home in Nottingham; one for storage and one for a games room.
Set back behind impressive wrought iron gates, the initial plot was challenging. The space to the left of their property, previously used for chickens, by the previous owner was an overgrown area containing the remnants of a brick-built outbuilding.
Set back behind impressive wrought iron gates, the initial plot was challenging. The space to the left of their property, previously used for chickens by the previous owner, was an overgrown area containing the remnants of a brick-built outbuilding. This site was where they envisioned their new bespoke garden room Nottingham.

Once the land had been cleared and levelled and the old brick structure removed. The project was to build two bespoke garden rooms, placed one in front of the other. Though one was offset to the left slightly, so they aren’t directly in front of each other. The rear L-shaped building was designed for the L to tuck behind the existing garage.
Both buildings are both clad with a combination of stone grey vertical slatted composite cladding for a modern, contemporary look. This is complemented by dark grey Hardie Plank on less visible walls. Both rooms have anthracite UPVC windows and doors and concrete bases.

Room 1: The Fitness & Games Hub
The larger, primary building (Room 1), measuring a substantial 7.6m x 4.2m was designed as a dual-purpose leisure space. As keen table tennis players, the Rays wanted a dedicated area for their hobby, so we added an internal partition to create:
1. A bright Gym area at the front.
2. A dedicated Table Tennis Games Room at the rear.
The gym area is flooded with light thanks to extensive glazing, including double sliding doors and a central 1.2m x 1m ceiling skylight. An internal light grey slatted feature wall adds visual interest and texture.
Internally the rooms have grooved wall boards and plain board ceiling, all painted in a clean, crisp white. This bright finish, coupled with light grey laminate flooring and air conditioning throughout, ensures a comfortable and clean environment for year-round use. The space is completed with 15 internal spotlights and 7 exterior spots.
Room 2: The Flexible L-Shaped Companion
Positioned to the rear of the plot, the L-shaped Room 2 (with longest sides measuring 5m x 5m). This room was designed to tuck around the back of the customer’s existing garage, maximising the usable space on the plot.
The primary function of Room 2 is storage in the short term. We did create an internal partition to create a separate smaller room. This is currently used for Christmas decoration storage but the size and design allows for conversion into a shower room should they want to change the room's purpose in the future.
Sharing the same clean white paint, grooved wall boards, and light grey laminate flooring as Room 1, this functional space is finished with 12 internal spotlights and 3 power sockets.
