Choosing a Garden Room Company: Does Size Matter?

If you've started researching garden rooms, you've probably noticed something...

Many companies spend as much time telling you why their competitors aren't the right choice as they do explaining their own products. Large companies often suggest smaller independents lack the experience or resources to deliver a quality garden room, while some smaller businesses claim larger companies have lost the personal touch.

We don't think either argument tells you very much.

There are excellent and poor companies of every size. Rather than judging a business by how many people it employs or how long it's been around, we believe the best way to compare garden room companies is to ask the right questions.

Is everything included in the garden room quote?

One of the biggest differences between garden room companies is what's included in the price. Some quotes include foundations, electrics, internal finishes and heating, while others charge separately for these items. A lower quote isn't always cheaper if essential elements are missing.

At Cosy Garden Rooms, we provide clear, transparent quotes, so you'll know exactly what's included.

Who will build my garden room?

Some companies use their own employed installation teams, while others rely on subcontractors. Both approaches can work well, but it's worth understanding who will be responsible for building your garden room.

Every Cosy Garden Room is installed by our own employed team. Building garden rooms isn't something they do occasionally it's what they do every day.

of the building with gaps in it where the doors and windows will go.

How experienced is the team?

Experience isn't simply about how long a company has been trading. It's about the knowledge of the people designing and building your project.

Our designer, Mark, has more than 20 years' experience designing garden rooms, while our employed installation team has many years' experience making and building bespoke garden rooms.

Will the garden room be designed around how I'll use it?

No two customers use a garden room in the same way. Whether you need a home office, gym, music room, artist's studio or guest accommodation, the design should be built around your lifestyle rather than asking you to choose from a standard layout.

Our recent projects include a bespoke 30m² family garden room combining a home office, gym and storage area, an artist's studio and a garden room designed around a hot tub and outdoor entertaining space.

Am I comparing the specification as well as the price?

Two garden rooms can look very similar but be built to completely different specifications.

When comparing companies, ask about the construction method, insulation, windows and doors, roofing system, foundations, heating and internal finishes. These details make a significant difference to how comfortable, efficient and durable your garden room will be for years to come.

Can I see recent projects and customer reviews?

Independent customer reviews and recent case studies are one of the best ways to understand the quality of a company's work and the experience of previous customers.

We're proud to have completed projects across the UK, supported by a growing collection of case studies and Trustpilot reviews.

Will I know who I'm dealing with?

At Cosy Garden Rooms, you'll know exactly who you're dealing with from your first enquiry through to completion.

We're large enough to design and install bespoke garden rooms across the UK throughout the year, yet small enough to provide a personal service.

Does the size of the company matter?

The size of a company doesn't determine the quality of its work or the service you'll receive. What matters is the experience of the team, what's included in the quotation, the quality of the finished product and how you're looked after throughout your project.

Our aim has never been to become the biggest garden room company. It's to build exceptional garden rooms and provide the kind of personal service we'd expect ourselves.

There isn't a perfect size for a garden room company.

Some large companies build exceptional garden rooms. So do some independent businesses. Equally, every part of the industry has companies that don't meet the standards customers should expect.

That's why we believe it's better to judge a company by what's included in the quotation, the quality of its work, the experience of its team and the service it provides from start to finish.
